When You Arrive to the Los Angeles Passport Agency

  • Arrive early to allow enough time to pass through building security screening and metal detectors (weapons are prohibited).
  • Go to the passport office on the 1st floor, Suite 1000.
  • Check-In at the Information Desk.
  • Present your Social Security Number or Appointment Confirmation Number to verify your appointment.
  • Get a number, be seated, and wait until you hear your number.
  • Finally, go to your assigned window when you hear your number. A passport agent will review your forms and documents.

  • Appointments are a requirement at all regional passport agencies. There is no charge to make an appointment at a regional passport agency and customers should not pay anyone or any business making such a charge.
  • Also, you must pay the $60 expedite passport fee in addition to application fees to apply at this regional passport agency.
  • Proof of travel is a requirement at this regional passport office.
  • Also, will-call service is available for life or death emergencies and immediate travel abroad (leaving within 5 business days). Typically, a regional passport agency will advise you when your passport is ready for pickup at will-call.
  • All other customers will receive a U.S. passport within 8 business days of applying at the regional passport agency.

Driving Directions, Parking Information, and Public Transportation

From LAX:

Take the 405 North, exit at Wilshire Blvd. East. Make a right on Veteran Ave and another right into the public entrance to the Federal Building parking lot. Or to avoid the freeway, take Sepulveda Blvd heading north. After you pass Santa Monica Blvd but before you get to Wilshire Blvd, make a right into the public entrance to the Federal Building parking lot.

From Downtown:

Take the 10 West to the 405 North, exit at Wilshire Blvd. East. Make a right on Veteran Ave and another right into the Federal Building parking lot. Also, to avoid the freeway, one possible surface route is to take Olympic Blvd. heading west. Make a right on Veteran Ave after you pass Santa Monica Blvd but before you get to Wilshire Blvd, make a left into the public entrance to the Federal Building parking lot.

From the Valley:

Firstly, take the 405 South, exit at Wilshire Blvd East. Make a right on Veteran Ave and another right into the Federal Building parking lot. To avoid the freeway, take Sepulveda Blvd heading south. Right after you pass Wilshire Blvd, make a left into the public entrance at the Federal Building parking lot.

From Santa Monica:

Take the 10 East to the 405 North, exit at Wilshire Blvd East. Then, make a right on Veteran Ave and another right into the public entrance to the Federal Building parking lot. To avoid the freeway, take Olympic Blvd. heading east. Make a left on Sepulveda Blvd. After you pass Santa Monica Blvd, but before you get to Wilshire Blvd, make a right into the public entrance to the Federal Building parking lot.

Moreover, the West L.A. Federal Building has free 3-hour visitor parking available towards the Veteran Avenue side of the building. Parking rates are subject to change without notice.
