Routine Passport Processing w/ the Government

Firstly, there are 2 ways to get a passport: Routine or Expedited Processing

You can choose routine processing at your local passport acceptance facility, which takes between 4-6 weeks. See below for more details.

In addition, you can also expedite your passport application, but additional fees apply.

Expedited Processing w/ Registered Passport Courier

For an additional service fee, a Registered Passport Courier can secure your passport faster than the 2-3 weeks of processing time through your local passport acceptance facility. In fact, a trusted Registered Passport Courier can secure your passport as quickly as 24 hours.

However, the service fee to expedite your passport is between $79 and $399, on top of government fees.

Additional U.S. Passport Fees

Execution Fee: In addition, you must pay an execution fee of $25 when applicable.

Next, you need an acceptance agent (post office or county clerk) to verify your signatures and identity, which applies to ALL passport applications with the sole exception of an adult passport renewal.

Expediting Fee:
In any case, the U.S. Department of State charges a $60 fee for expedited passport applications.

Also, this is paid in the form of a check – along with any of the listed passport fees above – made out to the U.S. Department of State.

Private Expediting Fee: All things considered, you may want to pay a registered passport courier to get the passport faster than 3 weeks.
