What is Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is a holiday in the United States dedicated to remembering the people who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their nation while serving in the armed forces. Memorial Day is observed every year on the last Monday of May. The holiday started right after the Civil War and was originally called Decoration Day. Eventually Memorial Day would become the holiday to honor all Americans who died while in the military service. It is very common for Americans to visit cemeteries and memorials. It is important to honor those who have sacrificed everything for the freedoms we enjoy today. And that freedom extends to our ability to travel freely and also see the world.
