African Visas in Advance

African Visas in Advance

It’s that time of year! Time to travel to Africa to watch the great migration or indulge in an African Safari. If you are headed to Africa make sure you have everything prepared in advance. There are many countries on the continent of Africa that still require a visa in advance before you can arrive in the designated country. This means that you will not be able to receive a visa on arrival. You will not be able to leave the U.S without documentation of the visa either. If you are planning on traveling to a country that requires a visa in advance, you need to make sure you apply for the visa before you leave for Africa. Check the list below to find out what countries in Africa still require an advance visa.

In order to obtain a visa for ANY country you will need to contact the designated countries consulate nearest your location. The consulates are located in most major cities. When you contact the consulate or find the information online you will want to make sure you have the following:

  • A tourist visa application form, usually available from the embassy web site.
  • A passport with at least one blank page that is valid for at least 6 months after your departure
  • An embassy/consulate address and phone number to send (or take) your paperwork to (this may be in a different country, so leave enough time for processing)
  • A definitive list of all documents needed to process the visa (all countries are different)
  • A stamped addressed return envelope, or pick up date, to get your passport with issued visa back.
