Every traveler loves to see their passport fill up with stamps and visas. But what happens if you need to add passport pages? Previously, the standard U.S. Passport came with only 28 pages of which only 17 pages were available for visas and entry/exit stamps.  As of January 1st 2016, the U.S. Department of State no longer issues the 28 visa page passport book. The new passport books are 52 visa page book. If you run out of passport visa pages after January 1st 2016, you will need to apply for a passport renewal. You can no longer add passport pages to your passport after January 1st, 2016.

If you do not have sufficient pages in your passport, you will not be able to get visas. Visas are required by many countries. A visa is an official government permission to enter, leave, and stay in a country. Visas are stamps or stickers put into your passport pages. You will need to apply for a passport renewal in order to have space for new visas and continue traveling internationally.

The second option is slower but more economical. If you do not have travel plans, then this is the option for you. Simple visit your local passport acceptance facility. Complete the required form, get a passport photo, and pay the government fees. Passport processing is usually 4-6 weeks.
