As of January 1st, 2016: passport applicants who wish to add passport pages must apply for a passport renewal. There is no longer the option to add pages. Read below to learn about the 52 Page Passport Book.
Prior to January 1st, 2016, the standard passport book came with 28 pages that were used for visas and entry/exit stamps; and of those 28 pages, only 17 that were valid for the visas and stamps.
After January 1st, 2016, each passport contains 28 pages with the free option to get a 52 page passport book.
Importantly, many countries have a requirement that your passport contain several empty pages when entering their country. Therefore, if your passport is close to full, you must renew your passport.
The 52 Page Passport Book
If you travel abroad often, you will appreciate the 52 page passport book. Of those 52 passport pages, 43 pages are blank and available for visas and entry/ exit stamps to the countries of your choice.
How to Add Additional Passport Pages
Unfortunately, any passport applicants who wish to add additional passport visa pages are no longer able to do so.
The U.S. Department of State started implementing this passport policy in late 2015 and officially on January 1st, 2016.
Notably, many countries throughout the world now have certain restrictions and may not allow you to enter if you have less than six months of validity remaining on your U.S. passport. In that case, we highly recommend that you apply for a passport renewal.
